I would say that AMD is definitely not comparing the AthlonXP to the P4's. Starting on
this link you can see how a PR 2000+ AthlonXP beats the 2.0Ghz P4A, by either a little or a lot. It does loose in one test that does not use the latest WMA encoder and also in the web benchmark. It is worth noting that in several tests it is neck in neck with the performance of a 2.5Ghz P4A. So thats why I don't think the PR numbers try to compare the AthlonXP to the P4.
