You'll have to look at the pumps rating, where it says Duty Cycle.

If the duty cycle is in percentage (as it usually is), then you'll have to keep it in mind if you're considering a 24/7 setup. You might be able to run a pump 24/7 even if it's not rated for it, if you've got a fan on it, but not always.

On the other hand, you could trade your worry off for an on-off switch...
