if you have a res and it is totally sealed, then there is no way for air ro excape the system, and with a big pump you will be churning the water and re intodusing the air back into the system.

run a t and a hose going to the very top of the system, and leave it open. Or drill and tap a hole in the top of the res, and put a fitting in it, then run your bleed tube up. And add coolant to the system using the bleed tube.
