I have the Pondmaster version(with the 18 foot cord), 500 gph, the exact same monitor, Viewsonic A90 and have not had any problems of this type. I have placed my pump on my desk next to the monitor, no distortion. I have had the pump inside my case for nearly 3 months and have not had any side affects.

I would check for other types of EMI, although it is possible that I just got lucky.
