Well, you're right, and that's why it's better to use tubing. The elbows are somewhat restrictive, and most people here that have replace them will tell you that they got better results without them.

The advantage to copper is twofold:
1) it is flexible, as in, it can be bent (the flexible kind, of course),
2) because it transmits heat, it adds to the total cooling.

(I'm going to try to used finned copper tubing, if I can find some)

Really, when you think about it, the clear PVC only has one advantage: it's clear.

I suppose that you could heat up some sections and bend them into shape, but I'm not sure that that's a good idea, unless you already know how.
