Wouldn't the water flowing across the wires cause them to "bunch up", thereby reducing the efficiency of the set-up? Would it not work better if the water inlet was at the top, blowing down into the "forest" of wire?

The wire's stiffer then it looks and doesn't seem to move much with the current flow that I'm getting.
The wire's profile to the water flow (by eye) looks to be similar from the side compared to the top since it's all tangled up so much, anyway it would be a simple procedure to mount a 1 inch fitting on the top if I wish to test that approach.
