Thanks for the replies.
The drill size I used for the final pass was a 10mm (3/8") one, the copper block is 18mm (3/4") thick and I think at the bottom of the bore it's leaving a thickness of approx 5mm (3/16").
The first one I did was a drilled and plugged one, it's running now, so all I have to do is swap blocks over once I've got this one finished.
My systems been running overnight downloading some files and my temps are as follows :

Room = 23 C
System = 33 C
CPU = 38 C

So, if as you suggest I may even improve on my very first effort.
I've made mine so that everything except the water block is in a seperate box. Here's a picture of my setup at the moment.
