Just did some tests

Here are my numbers

Straight pump:
Rio 180 took 40seconds to fill 1 gallon of water

Aqua Via 1300 took 22seconds to fill 1 gallon of water

Rio 180 Pushing water through the Via Aqua w/ Via Aqua off:

Rio 180 took 45s to fill 1 gallon of water

Via Aqua sucking water through Rio 180 w/ Rio 180 off:

Via Aqua took 28s to fill 1 gallon of water

Pumps in Tandem:

Rio 180 pushing water into the inlet of the aqua via both pumps on..

Took 22seconds to fill 1 gallon of water.

There is no advantage in GPH with both pumps together.. The only advantage I have seen is with head pressure and of course redundancy. I don't hear the ticking from the rio 180 anymore now that I put more water in the tank.. so who knows.

Both pumps combined head pressure would be 8ft to 9ft.

It seems that both of the pumps working together doubles that.. I am going to get a straight piece of 1/2" 20ft vinyl tubing and test it out.. from a bedroom window.
