But yeah I think you could use those hoses but because they are softer there's a danger of pulling the hose from fitting, but to be certain I would have to try it, I might do that tomorrow if I'll get some 12mm silicon hose.
The closeness would mean a little longer tube but at a more gradual radius (which can be done with Tygon, not sure about silicone though). I would not worry about the softness of Tygon causing slippage, it holds so tight that you usually need to cut it off of the barb because you cannot pull it off. I see that you add a short length of stiff smooth tubing out of the connector for the hose to connect to, just put some uneven epoxy rings on it to mimic a hose barb.
