Speaking of cold cathodes, though, that is a similar technology to what is being proposed by another company. Basically, they take semiconductor fabrication techniques to create very thin vacuum filled gaps. Then, applying current across the junction causes heat as well as electrons to move. Voila! A potential competitor to the peltier device, but (hopefully!) much more efficient. Efficient enough to compete with standard refrigeration, perhaps!

Now, THAT is what I'm looking forward to!
