You WANT to ask her out. Do so. Learn from everyone elses mistakes. It always turns out bad if you don't. How is not asking her out any different from getting rejected/dumped? Can you see your friendship continuing to be healthy and good with you wanting to ask her out constantly. Looks like the beach thing is already a date, and even better because you get to see her in a swimsuit. If you don't, you'll never know. Take it in baby steps. When your time at the beach is over, slip in a little "this was fun, we should do it again sometime."
