Does that BMW heatercore have tubes, or did you have to somehow put barbs on it?

My database shows
BMW: 2-772
7 1/4 by 10 7/8 by 1 5/8, with o-ring connections, called "Valeo fit".

for 5 series (E34), 1989 through 1995.
