the magnets would prevent the fan blade from spinning freely (just grab ur CPU fan and give it a spin; you should see what im talking about). you'ld have to remove them to get is to turn freely which could ruin its water-resistant properties. not only that, but the smallest fan available is 60mm.
rigging it up as a 'cheap flow rate sensor' might be difficult to impossible. but if any-1 does do it, post pics
