What white stuff are you talking about? From the picture, the arrow is pointing to where the block is soldered together, that should be a very thin line of silver. If you put a finger on one barb and blow in the other, does air leak out? If not, hook it up to a pump and let it run for a while on top of a piece of newspaper. If the paper is wet after awhile it leaks
