Default Whaoh! i didn't expect this good of an OC!

A couple of days ago i had a close encounter with the frying your processor kind. thats right, my xp 1900+ is toast.

so i have to settle with my duron 900 for now. i had never used the duron with my 8k3a+ (only with the k7t-turbo), so i figured i might as well try to oc it as high as possible (hopefully higher than the 11x100 i previously maxed out on). i proceeded to play with the multiplier and FSB and got it to 1.33, but only on a 133mhz fsb. for the hell of it i wanted to try to max the fsb. so i set it to 8x166. lo and behold! i posted and booted to windows! i was thrilled! then i thought "if it can do 166, why not higher?". back to the bios i ventured. after setting the multiplier to 6 (the lowest setting), vcore to 1.85 and fsb to 200 it posted fine again! although this time i was shot down because it hung before the xp loading screen. i kept on lowering the fsb until it booted into windows at 193. after running ut 2k3 benchmark for about 1 min it hung once again. this excercise was repeated until i reached 189. it ran fine for the whole benhmark! so i ran it again just to check, then i started up 3dmark and it ran without a hitch for 5 loops (i was tired of 3dmark by then, so i shut it off).

i can safely say that my comp is now rock stable at 1134mhz or 6x189mhz. the memory is at 2-3-3 and vcore is 1.85v. i don't want to take the vcore any higher since i seriously doubt the proc is at 35c load which the mobo reports. I also ran sandra 2001. the cpu benchmarks where nothing to brag about, but i was blown away by the memory bandwidth test; (i copied this off the test)

RAM int buffered 2278mb/s
RAM float buffered 2090mb/s

Not too shabby for a duron 900!
