Ok, after reading DodgeVipers post about (I think) WW made his TC-4 leak and loose his MOBO, I promptly went home and began flushing my system out. Upon completing the second flush, I noticed my pump was "VERY noisy" and took it apart to clean it. Well, I found a piece of epox that had broken off from some where in the system lodged between a pair of impellers thus causing massive cavitation. OPPS! After I reassembled the pump and tried another flush, it was making more noise than my Suson 108CFM fan (42 dbs) !!! Turned off the pump and tried powering it back on again.......NOTHING!
Disassembled the pump again, and tried another flush....exact same thing down to even not working after a power off.
At this point I got on the phone and called around to local aquariums to get a new pump. So here is what I have available.
Ehiem 1250 @ ~$100 Next day delivery
OR
Sen (Sedra) 3500A ~$65 Next day delivery
Has anyone ever heard about a SEN (Sedra) pumps and how well do they perform??
I checked the stats for that Sedra pump and it has a rating of about 350gal/hr @ 10'+ head. They also tried to sell me the 5000A which does 500gal/hr @15' head. (little too much for my liking)
So...... Comments? Suggestions? I am kinda leaning towards the Sedra because it looks like it has more potential for pressure in the system while still providing volume, however that is an expensive experiment.
So PLEASE let me know what everyone thinks.
Thanks
BTW I did manage to get my Rio back working TEMPORARILY until I can get the new pump.
