I have been using the sedra KSP-3500A for the past year now 24/7 with now problems and it's quite too.

BTW : mine was only $50 at the local fish store

EDIT : Sedra's offices are located in Torrance (thats where i live) abd the fish store owner said that they are made just like the ehiems and that they are good with fresh water aswell as salt water
