1. Yes it is on TV, you get the UK and European TV? what about Aussy? Its a fairly big sport in those areas. Only auto series that are on TV in the US that are based in other countries are series that the US doesnt have itself or are series that the US teams participate in. Aussy has an awesome V8 series, where they race cars that would make most mullet power heads cream, and they run them ON ROAD COURSES!.. thats not on TV here either.. but it sure as hell rocks!
2. A car built for a specific course... welcome to motor sports! Almost any series has different chassis for different events. CART and IRL cars are also different between ovals and street and road courses. Same with F1 they tweak the cars for every course cause all are different.
3. AutoX is Solo2... atleast any and all around here. I have only run or spectated at SCCA AutoX's which are classified as Solo2 and are under the Solo2 classifications for the cars.
4. Require'n money isnt the same as being 100% Dependant on money. Since drag is all about power and almost not at all about driver its purely money driven since the only way to go faster is to put more money into the car. For AutoX or anything where you turn, the driver becomes the biggest factor in the speed of the car since you can exploit advantages and compensate for weaknesses in your car by your driving and not by just dumping more money into it. More power = More money. More speed in real racing = good driver.
5. Nascar is a SPEC race series. you know what the deffinition of SPEC is? their cars are all as close to eachother as possible, their engines are all putting out the spec amount of power and have restrictions in place on their design. you never hear F1 drivers, WRC drivers, Pro Rally drivers, or any of those SPEC classes talk about HP cause its not a real concern. They all have the most they can have. the only real difference is power curve, speed the car gets into the curve etc... Nascar doesnt talk about drifting because its not effective for their racing just as its not for F1 ( which is considered the premire auto racing series on the planet). Drifting is limited to a VERY small group of racing which covers about all Dirt oval racing and rally racing.
Everyone has their own thing, the whole excitement about Drag racing escapes me. 10 seconds of high G loads in one direction... Give me a 2 hour race where you are hammered with Gloads of up to 2 Gs in every direction ( or if you are in a serious race car 4G's... F1 cars can hit 6G's in some cases drivers normally cant handle that though) the feeling of 4 wheels gripping to the ground like magnets and just hammering turn after turn in the power band, apexing and getting a line... How much more fun can there be?!
"Guide to drag race - Hit head with hammer, start car, press gas, release clutch, hit brake when you cross line." hehehe

I don't get to talk about cars here...so duh I'm gonna leave it open
1.) SpeedVision(back when it was cool) showed all sorts of races from other countries...Such as the UK and Aussie V8 Supercar races...they also show Semi truck races, WRC, Go-Kart(in the UK). The only thing I haven't seen is JGTC racing from Japan...oh god do I want to.
2.) Grassroots Motorsports Challenge, you take one car and compete in 3 different events...Drag Racing, Car Show, and Road Course. 1 Car.
3.) Our AutoX isn't Solo2, its SCCA, but not big time. I don't speak for Solo2 cause thats the good stuff.
4.) Bracket racing requires money to go faster...but in the end its driver dependent. Same goes for AutoX, a guy has a tricked out Civic hatch with a Integra Type R engine...he is the fastest out there...I bet he didn't get there by being cheap though.
5.) Thats why NASCAR sucks now...you can't be different. AutoX and Drag Racing you can almost run anything you want. Back in the 70s Everybody but GM got something banned because they were different. The HEMIs were banned, the Big Wing Birds were banned. NASCAR sucks cause they want you to conform.
AutoX can be summed up as "Turn, don't hit cone, push pedal, Turn" But its not that simple, i've ridden with people in AutoX, and it requires more, which is why I don't AutoX. Cause Drag Racing a 200HP car is "Push Pedal, keep straight" Above 300HP and you've got more work to do. Same goes for AutoX, cause when you've got a 120HP car kicking your but and you've got a tricked out 400HP car...you've got to do a little better on the next go around.
Can I have a sneak picture please?
