I ran some calculations, and it looks like you're going to have totally laminar flow throughout most of this block - that is, everywhere but the entry where the fluid is striking the center of the block.

I hate to argue, but I really think this design isn't going to work well. You really, really need turbulent flow in this sort of application.

How deep would the channels need to be "etched" to alleviate this problem? Would sand or bead blasting do the trick?
