Have you considered putting it on the case floor (Abyss)? When I build my water rig that is what I intend. Drawing air through the floor of the case may require more frequent cleaning of the filter but that filter could be attached with velcro on the outside of the case, won't show much, or at all rigged right.

And as the Abyss has lower flow restriction it would be much better all the way around. Also as you state noise is a concern, the much larger Abyss would allow you to run fans like the Vanted stealths. Never hear them, yet would still be enough to cool your rig. Or you could also try those new alum. framed fans and run them @7v as they are pretty silent to start with also.
