Well I haven't had time to read or surf much of the news this week, so I haven't been keeping up with what is going on, but I could really care less about "The 3DMark benchmark was changed from "17829" to "17329". Like 500 3DMark points out of 17,000+ really means anything in the first place. Well, not to me anyway. Maybe it was a typo or misread when typing it into the document. Hell, I haven't had much in the way of sleep for a couple weeks now, and 8's and 3's almost look the same to me anyway.
I did read Ed's article over at OC'ers about how the 3.06 cpu will never be a good processor to buy, and I have pretty much tuned out all coverage after agreeing with his valid points. Does 500 3DMark points really mean anything? Someone clue me in.
As far as forum banning goes, it sucks, but if you think of it as your 'domain that you control and built', you can pretty much do whatever you want. If a bunch of people were getting on my nerves in my own house, I would kick them out too. Granted, they have a history of doing this to minimize exposure to their own mistakes or statements, but it has gotten to the point where they are calling even more attention to the issue by doing it.
I much prefer reading this forum than any other for the relatively consistant open-minded information sharing that goes on here. The [H] forum was really bad for a long time with all the newbies and bashing that was going on, but when they moved the general topics stuff to genmay.com, it got better. What I have found out though, is that whatever tech-related forum topics they have, are not nearly as informative or interesting as what goes on here.
