Did you ever test the 'stall the impellor' thing to see if it flipped the other way or whether it stayed stalled?...
The rubber's about 1.5mm thick, with it all being made out of perspex I can watch what's going on and change valve material if it doesn't work right.

yea I did have a look at that on my really small pump, unfortunally it doesn't kick back but instead simply tries to push against the obstruction, with the more powerfull pumps you'd simply end up breaking impeller blades:shrug:
