I concur.

To build your own PSU, you will need an oscilloscope, to see where the line noise comes from, and how to remove it. You also have to have a good power resistor, for some power switch tests.

I've always wondered if the line noise comes from the AC supply, or if it's more from the switching of higher/lower power draw on the supply lines.
