I think I might be able to answer question 2.

From what I've heard, Innovatek uses BST threads for their kits and finding BST to 1/2" fittings is very difficult (I gave up after a few hours of searching

). Alternatively, you could get adapters that allow you to move from one size tubing to another (in this case from the tubing innovatek uses (I think 10mm) to 1/2').
