Default making a Reservoir from...

hey everyone, just joined this forum and its what i was looking for sweet block designs everyone!!!.

i just wish i found this site before i made my block , but by the looks of things, i did a pretty sweet job with mine. no pic though

any way, i want to make a reservior for my to-be water setup, i have a lot of plexi glass about 1/4in thick, maybe a bit thicker.
i want to make the reservior from the plexi glass, i was thinking of joining it with acetone (melts the plastic) and sealing the edges with silicon cocking.

would this reservior hold up? is plexi glass a good material to use?

oh, for the water, i will use distilled water, im not sure if i should ad a bit of coolant to stop stuff from growing in the system. and im wondering if i ad coolant, will that eat away at the plexi glass/silicon cocking?
