I'm holding off for a hammer dually, expecting purchase in mid May when I'll have another grand to kick around. I figure that at that time, if the processor cost for the base models are around $200 per unit, I should be able to make an uber-machine for less than $1K. That is a big if, though, and also counts on increasing DDR production and the spring slowdown to reduce RAM spot prices dramatically, and the fact that you should be able to pick up a Radeon 9700 Pro for under $150 (not unreasonable with the shake-up coming next spring).
