All of the boards that use thermal management use the in-die thermistor for that function. The only difference between them is whether they use it for MBM/BIOS temp monitoring as well. Some do, and some don't. The ones that use the diode reader for MBM/BIOS monitoring as well as thermal management are going to read the wrong temp because of added resistance in the loop. If you hook up an outside reader onto the board as well, your temp measurements will be even further off. I would highly recommend NOT adding a diode reader to this board, because the results that will be read will not be accurate within 5C. You might as well use a stick-on thermistor.
