Keep in mind that you'll have to "work" with the Maxijet pump's inlet and outlet. That's assuming you'll run it inline versus submersible.

I purchased a brand new MP1200 off Ebay for $15 and the outlet is 1/2" OD and the inlet is 3/4" OD. Also, the inlet and outlet are not threaded. The Maxijet MP1200 uses 20w vs the L30's 23w and the Maxi flows 295gph at 69" and the Hydor flows 320gph at 75".

I am unable to compare the two in practical applications since I didn't want to be bothered with figuring out how to fit something to the Maxi's inlet. It's still in the box.
