A core like that could also, if placed right, reduce your total length of lines in a system, and shorter lines would reduce your pressure drop as well.

edit:
An even better cooling one is 2-342, same idea but more total area if you have space for it. And on 2-342 the inlet/outlet are on opposite corners.
