True enough. Maybe it would work if it were mechanically attached to the retaining clip for stabilization. Seems there would be very little flow restriction, which if my personal experience in WC setups means anything than it would function well as long as there was enough interior surface area for the heat to transfer effeciently. Although it would die really fast under a pump failure or leak.
