jaydee116, i think that elements are coated, just like the wires used in a solenoid, or however it is written, otherwise if someone dips his hand in an electiric kettle, he would die instantly.

secondly i would like to ask if somebody here knows exacly what a dimmer does to put down the voltage. Does it cut some part of the wave or it just acts like a variable resistor. we tought that it cuts the wave but when we went to buy one, (btw the bigger we found supported max of 1kW), he told us that it acts just like a resistor. But if this is thought, we have to cool down the dimmer do no??? if it dissipates 1kw of electric energy, it must go to heat or somewhere else no??
