yup, thats why i picked brass, i could have made the entire thing out of alu but then i would have the battery effect.

and i think i will be going with the open cavity for the housing, i figured why take away surface area from the copper by covering it up with brass.

this is what i meant for the base,


the only problem with the open cavity is clearing it out after i drill into the brass i guess i can use those bits, but wont that be bad for the drill press, i'll be putting presure sideways onto it.
