Micro channel wb with limited tools

Hi, I’ve wanted to build my first wb for quite some time now, but I don’t have a mill. What I have is an old but sturdy drill press and an old and weak lathe with some extra functions such as mounting a small cutting wheel.
I’ve bin thinking on how to use this fore something else than a #rotor block, and I think I might be able to make a simple micro channel wb a bit like cathars block, but since I’m a newbie at working with metal, I’d like some comments on it.

My plan is to drill two large holes with a “flat edge” drill, and then saw slits between them with the lathe. Then I would mount another block onto it, and then drill between the blocks to create an O-ring channel. And then mount a plexi top on it. Do you think it’s possible to make it, and do you think it would perform ok?

Another question. Does a nozzle have to be round, or could it be rectangular?

Edit: Coply paste urls... working on better server...
