I sent Your question to Hard Ware Labs and got this answer from someone called Willie:

The terminology was derived from the number of turns the coolant would make
inside the radiator.

A single pass rad would simply have two single-cavity top and bottom tanks.
While two pass radiators would have a single cavity bottom tank with a 2
cavity or dual upper tank (more reliable than single tank dual cavity)
configuration.
