Many people have reported this, but I have yet to see a good explanation.

I suspect that either the tubing is absorbing the dye, which seems unlikely, or the WW is either absorbing it, or neutralizing it. Since WW contains glycol, that would be my primary suspect, but I'm no chemist.:shrug:
