Nice work Mike,

I ordered mine from a local Napa for $30.00 so you got a better price. But due to our ordering from differant sources brings up a interesting point.

We didn't get the same core!

I Agree that both were first set up with the same twisted tubes coming off them. Clear they about had to be for the same installation or car/truck. But I see a number of differances, some cosmetic but a couple that will cause some change in performance. (Do you recall the car/truck yours was supposed to be for? Mine was for a chevy 69-72 pickup with air.)

A list of the differances I see, and others I suspect from your description.

1) Differant tanks, mine had some creased spots in the tanks yours don't. And on mine the tubes weren't flatened into ovals, they went in round.

I'm not sure, but I think the tanks on yours are a bit smaller overall. Would account for the flatened inlet/outlets. Hard to tell for sure though just from posted pics of the two.

2) The one I ordered has 14 plate/tubes, 13 in the one you're working on.

3) Demenisons on the fined area of the one I bought, 9 1/4 X 6 3/8 X 1 15/16". What are the exact sizes on yours? I'm wondering if it matches the one listed on the Fedco site. That ones demensions were, 9 1/2 X 6 1/8 X 2.

The differances noted in the tanks, numbers of tubes & shape of the inlets/outlets would change performance. Will also make a differance in where each can be fitted if the demensions are differant. I'd really thank you for taking the time to messure the outer demensions and fined area for me for comparison. I bought mine thinking it would be good fit for a build I intend this summer fall. But as it is 1/4" wider than I'd expected it is going to be damned tight. If yours matches the Fedco demensions I could order one from Rockauto.com. Won't order of course until I see I have to, but it would be real nice to know.
