The actual speed of your processor is governed by the multiplyer * the front side bus. So if you have your FSB at 100 and your multiplyer at 10 then your chip is going to run at 1000 MHz. Having a higher front side bus while sometimes being harder to achieve will give you a much bigger performance increase than just increasing your multiplier. Increasing your FSB will in essence increase the operating speed of all the devices that use the northbridge controller. (PCI, Ram, lots of integrated stuff) most everything but the AGP card. So basically if you can pull off a good FSB OC then its better than just having a fast processor.
