I've seen 1/2" lexan struck with all the force a convict could put into it in the prison I work at, it didn't crack. With all the differant abuse I've seen it take without breaking I have full confidance in it to last in this use without any problems. The reason I said only a Lexan top is due to the fact that Lexan is about 30X stronger than any other clear plastic.

But in fairness I've seen Morphling 1 and others having good luck with acrylic as well.

I just happen to like the look of a clear top over any solid one. Can't see the UV dyes through a solid top real well.

And i think BattleBots uses a lexan arena to protect the audience from those menacing bots of carnage :P
