sure you can, how do you think most people secure their cores? just use some long, thin bolts. you should be able to find some at your local hardware store.
or if you cant find bolts, try looking for thin, threaded metal rods (kinda like a long bolt without the head). then just use some wingnuts of something to screw it down. i believe this is the same thing DTek uses to secure their shrouds to the core (
