It's not clear to me that this is cynical/manipulative marketing rather than stupid/lazy marketing.
I've had more than one experience of trying to explain technical issues about a product to a marketing person, and later seeing marketing literature akin to this Innovatek blurb.
I guess one way to find out which it is, is to confront the seller and/or manufacturer with the fact that these statements are BS, and see what comes of it.
