One setup that I've seen successfully done is to have only a couple example machines, and then a menu that allows the purchaser to decide what parts they need. This will allow them to customize the machine, and would allow for a higher profit margin on more highly modified machines (look at Dell or HP for examples when specing a laptop).
By the way, adding more AMD machines at lower cost would be good if you could explain to people the differences and benefits. I've discovered that it is easy to turn people on to AMD when you explain that they push just as hard for a fraction the cost. Again, this may increase your profit margin.
