Both Stepback (in this forum) and Scopedog (Review Nation) use this pump. They report it makes no noise whatsoever. Zilch, nada. At some point Stepback had it mounted to a metal garage door --a nice acoustic platform. Still no noise.

I have to put a couple fingers on it to make sure it's still on.
That quiet. Still, touching it will sure give you the verification you need: in normal operation the housing heats up to about 50 degrees C. This has not been found to affect either coolant or case temps, however.

Regarding MTBF: that is rated at 2500 hrs. non-stop running.

Stepback's comments on this:

I don't think it will wear out as quickly as the mfg thinks it will. I work as an instrument repair tech at a bio tech company. We have some 12v dc pumps that are rated to last for 1500 hrs. that have been on machines for over 5 years. These machines run almost 24/7/365 and pump some of the nastiest chemicals on the planet. We have more problems with seals going bad in the pump head than the motors burning out. And we just change the seals and reuse the pumps.
