Default what email client do you use?

i use full outlook. it works good, and has all the features i really want, like rules for incoming mail sorting through multiple accounts, a very good and portable way to back up all my saved email (which is a TON), stuff like that. and, it will probably be around, well, indefinitely.

however, it's kinda unreliable. it crashes more than i'd like, and uses a considerable amount of system resources. i really don't need the day planner and all that junk, however the contact manager with notes, addresses, etc is pretty nice to have combined.

are there any fairly lightweight programs out there that are just as good as outlook? maybe an outlook clone? i need something that's going to be available for a while, can import .pst files, and even if possible be able to export them as well (in case i need to go back to outlook). needs to work well in windows, however if it works in X as well, would be nice.

am looking at eudora, but it's having problems importing my mail file, and i have no idea how you set up mail rules (i have email that comes to certain addresses, or from certain addresses that goes directly into seperate folders).

my guess is i'm going to have to stay with outlook, and just grudge through another reinstall. but, i figured i'd ask.

oh yeah, right now every time i hit send/recieve it crashes. classic.
