Default mounting hole stud sizes

Ok, as I am sure most of you know that my ideas were pimped from a few different designs, I got a question for ya all. Reading through some of the threads, it seems that most (some) people prefer to use #6-32 studs to hold a waterblock down. Ok, its been forever since I have opened my case, but I did just the other day & I noticed that the mounting holes are damn big. Doing some research I found that they are .240" dia. Now a 6-32 stud is .136" in dia. quite a big difference. Now, I am kinda picky, specially when it comes to things looking good. Stacking a bunch of washers up just won't cut it for me...I plan on making some bushings out of Delrin or something & that way the studs will be located exactally on center of the hole. With a stack of washers...well, you can see how easily it would be for things to drift around a bit & then the center of your block is now longer exactally centered over your core...or something like that.

OK, this leads me to my question...why do you have such a small stud there when you can easily step up the size to say a #10-32 (.190" dia)? Or have I totally misread things & ya all are already using larger dia studs?

Thanks again...
