Benchmarks can be twisted to suit anyone's needs.
The hardware ain't the fastest, but it's respectable. It's also quite pricey in relation to a comparably equipped intel box.
But the OS is to die for. I'd buy the OS if it was available for an intel box.
As long as you go in with your eyes open and not blinded by the hype, buying a Mac isn't that huge of a step.
