I think Ben has hit it pretty correctly. I will be adapting the design whenever I get a chance at work.

Today I made some use of my CNC mill:

Now to make the pins in the middle. Mill is doing OK, but it took a dozen passes just to get .20" deep with the 1/4" endmill.
