Hello All,
I picked up a Swiftech MCW50-T and some Tweakmonster Ramsinks for my water cooling setup. See below. THen the problems started.
First and most severe is that my system would no longer run stable yet alone boot at my 2564 mhz that I was proud to obtain using my Tc-4 block and other goodies.
So I figured it was the power supply. I currently have a TT 480 Pure Power with 18amp on the 12+ rail. Swiftech recommends at least 20.
So I wired in another power supple-TT 420- unit just to run my Swiftech GPU peltier unit.
With this setup, I still was not able to get past 2508 mhz reliably for the cpu (Prime certified before at 2564).
Temps:
My previous cpu temperature (off the mb) read 41 degrees idle and 44 degrees under a load. Now with the Swiftech, I'm at 51 degrees idle and 53 under load!!!!!!!
About 10 degrees hotter with this setup!!!
Setup:
1300 water pump. 1/2 Clearflex lines. Proradiator /shroud/enermax 120mm 94cfm fan.
13 case fans
D-tek TC-4 Rev 2.0 block
Yes, I can clock my 9800 pro straight to 520 mhz/ 400 mhz ram. However with the reduced cpu clock ,my system now scores lower in benchmarks.
So, what to do?
Do I:
A) Dump the Swiftech and get a non-peltier GPU WB such as a Danger Den or Gemini cooler. Will a non-peltier GPU block increase the water temp as drastic as this unit?
or
B) Get a peltier for the cpu? Extra PSU required.
Any advice would be appreciated.
thank you
