No they are not. They are used to pump excess water out of the boat when needed and sometimes to dump and replace the water in the live wells. They use aerators for the live wells and bait wells 24/7 or on more tech advanced systems they shut on and off by oxygen sensors (they sell them in the same section at Wal Mart BTW). And they also DO NOT use these cheap ass pumps for commercial boats in the ocean. These are for small boats like bass boats that are not out for days on end. Two totally different pumps anyway.

But non the less, he did say performance is not important.
