I'm a software engineer, writing control and analysis programs for semiconductor test equipment.
So, I write stuff that controls the robots, the 0.1 um/0.2 millidegree accurate XYZT stages, vacuum and dry nitrogen lines, lasers, GPIB/Ethernet/RS232 control interfaces and such. It does DC and RF measurements. The DC measurements help customers get 10 attofarad resolution and down to 1 femtoamp noise levels. Basically, measuring small clumps of electrons.
The other product I tend to work on is a calibration and analysis tool for VNAs (vector network analyzers) for taking RF measurements from s-parameters from 0-110GHz taken from the DUTs and then calibrating out the cable and probes distortion and de-embedding the DUT from the wafer pads.
