Your first task is going to be to identify the type of pump that it is.

If it's a bilge or piston type pump, it'll be too noisy. You want a centrifugal pump. Even then, some have a flexible rubber impeller, and they're noisier than all of them! The clue here is that if it's self-priming, then it's a bad choice.

(Self-priming means that it can suck air until it starts pumping water).
